October 2016 | Breast Cancer Awareness Month
As many people know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it is a cause that is very important to me. Many years ago my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her chemo treatments, I became obsessed with finding ways to help her boost her immune system. Additionally I was looking for ways to prevent this disease, not only for myself but for her daughters as well.
The Best Way to enhance Breast Health!
 Or anyone’s immune system!
Gut bacteria is the Key to a Health!
All diseases are caused by two things, either not enough nutrition or too many toxins. The key component in our bodies that can either contribute or sabotage our health is our gut. We absorb food there (small intestine) and eliminate what we don’t want from the large intestine. The good and bad bacteria of the intestines are responsible for absorption and elimination.
The latest science is that the diversity of “good gut flora” affects the immune system, inflammation, the nervous system (depression), colon and heart health and more.
How to we add build the diversity of bacteria and boost our immune system and Breast health?  There are 3 ways.
  1.  Fuel up on fermented foods(probiotic). Foods like yogurt, kombucki, kimchi and sauerkraut contain bacteria or yeast help break down key nutrients like B vitamins(energy), Vtiamin C (antioxidant), Iron so your body can use them. Bacteria from fermented foods also crowds out harmful microbes. Here is a link to some ways to Maria King’s website, a co-founder of Ozuke, a probiotic pickling company based in Colorado. http://ozuke.com
To be sure you are getting a probiotic everyday, Shaklee
created a system that delivers the good bacteria (capsules)
and ingredients(powder) that act like an agar plate that provides the food to multiply them. This contains more than one bacteria and the more the better.
Korean Kim Chi :   Kim Chi Recipe
To be sure you are getting enough pre and post biotic:  Optiflora System
2.    Feed your Good Bacteria. These carbohydrates (Prebiotics) are  fibers that acts as food for the good bacteria. Like the powder in the Optiflora Prebiotic complex that I just mentioned. These carbohydrates don’t break down well and travel intact to the large intestine. Good bacteria work on them and change them into SCFAs
that nourish the gut, reduce inflammation and enhance the immune
system. Sounds complicated but just know that by adding these foods to your life you are adding prebiotics and enhancing your health.
Foods to regularly include:
  • Asparagus, fennel, garlic, lentils, onions, peas, pomegranate, nectarines and watermelon.
  • A really helpful resistant starch is found in bananas, beans, pasta and potatoes and rice. To optimize their use cook and eat room temperature. For bananas, eat before they are ripe.
The end result is: It helps absorb Calcium better, improve your body’s use of glucose and HELP YOU BURN FAT more effectively. They aid the intestines in releasing toxins that I mentioned earlier which can create the climate for cancer free life!
Not only is it a meal but it contains the pre and post biotics we need to absorb our nutrients and the correct fiber to release toxins. I recommend drinking one everyday so you know you are covering your bases. AND it delicious!
3.    Avoid Food that Harm Good Bacteria;
Limit Foods that sabotage building the microbiota (bacteria)
So foods that are high in sugar, refined carbohydrates, and unhealthy processed fats. These foods are deficient in fiber which prevent growth of beneficial gut flora. Processed fats and sugar act as food for unfavorable bacteria and encourages their growth.
Prevention helps you take control of your destiny. Adding these foods and supplements shift your body to a healthier state by reducing inflammation and boosting your immune system. You’ll notice fewer colds, flue and an increase in energy. You wil feel great! These are your cues that you are on the right track!
