Happy New Year!

With the New Year begins the race to lose weight. We make resolutions, join gyms and eat less. But, within a week or two we are back to our old habits again! We are back to our food addictions and unhealthy lifestyles again! That’s the definition of crazy, isn’t it? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. It’s time to embrace self-care back into our lives. That means living consciously where we make decisions based on what we eat and how hard we work so we can build a healthy, vibrant body.

We give up on our new healthy habits because we don’t see instant results. So how fast is fast enough? How fast we lose weight does matter. No one loses 11 pounds in a week and keeps it off. It is the small, consistent changes that make the big difference, and most of the time, diet and exercise alone doesn’t work!

To kick start your new healthy year, I am offering you the opportunity to take THE CHALLENGE, WIN WEEKLY PRIZES OR MAYBE THE FIRST PLACE PRIZE OF $500!

Jacqui McCoy, a television personality from Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition, gave Shaklee a challenge to lose 40,000 pounds as a group between January 6th and March 31st. So do you want to be part of a challenge to lose 10 pounds or more? Jacqui knows that diet and exercise alone doesn’t always work. She has a compelling story. She was 30 years old, obese and had a disease that prevented her from having a baby. She wanted desperately to have one.

She successfully lost 207 pounds in one year on the TV show Extreme Makeover. Her job that year was to eat right and exercise to get her body back, and she did it! However, her hormones were still out of balance and she was unable to conceive. What was worse, she started to gain her weight back! Her mother recently lost weight on the Shaklee 180 program. Jacqui loved the convenience of the Shaklee 180 Smoothees, Metabolic Boost, Energizing Teas and she only had to prepare one meal per day. With Shaklee, she had natural nutrition to fill in the gaps! She felt great and was losing 1-2 pounds per week. The best news is that she had a baby girl last August!

What health goals do you have? Would you like to feel good in your body? My challenge involves a 90-day program where you can address the simple lifestyle changes that make weight loss sustainable and gets your body functioning at its best. Forget about quick fixes and yo-yo dieting – slow and steady wins the race. Take the challenge today!

I’m excited to share with everyone that I started a 3 month journey to reset my body.

My goal is to lose 20 pounds in 90 days!

I’m not doing this challenge alone.  I have a group of 3,000 people from Shaklee’s Las Vegas Convention joining me.  Groups give you support and also accountability which helps  you can achieve your goal.

20 pounds might seem like a daunting task but I want it and I’m motivated to do it.

Dr McManus, a speaker at the conference and head of SHAKLEE Medical Affairs, motivated all of us by warning us about the dangers of carrying extra weight.

Extra fat generates higher levels of insulin which puts people at risk of cancer, type-2 diabetes and heart disease.

(Interesting article on this from CNN- ‘Excess weight shortens life’)

Dr McManus’s challenge for us is to: “if you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk.”

Jacqui McCoy, the women who lost 205 pounds on Extreme Makeover, also spoke at the conference and motivated us.  She has kept all the weight off and she is excited to be a coach now herself on“Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss edition.”

Talk about inspiration and motivated!  If Jacqui can lose 205 pounds I can lose 20!

5 tips to reset your body and lose those extra pounds:

1)  Find a strong strong why.  Why do you want to make changes?

For me I have 2 strong whys- To feel great in my clothes again and to prevent disease. I worked as a nurse for 10 years and saw what can happen to unhealthy overweight people.  It’s important to connect how your going to lose weight to why you want to lose weight.

2) Plan your menu every week.

Every Sunday find fun recipes and make a list and shop for foods you love.  Don’t leave your meals to chance.

3) Don’t deprive yourself.

On Shaklee’s Cinch Program, everyday we drink a shake, eat a bar, drink a tea and take a booster vitamin at every meal.  And we encourage a full meal at dinner.  Talk about not depriving yourself!

To lose weight, I can still eat 1500 calories per day including shakes, bars and tea.,  The Cinch diet is 40%( Carbohydrate)-30(Protein)-30(Fat) which is the ideal ratio so the body does not think it is starving. When this happens it lowers our metabolism and holds on to fat.  I feel satisfied with the program so I am tempted not to eat and then later I am hungry.

4) Find a group to motivate you.  Groups make you accountable and help you with your weight loss goals.  Join my group the “Unforgettables!”  We speak every Tuesday night 8 pm.

5) Get Moving . Exercise changes your attitude as well as your body. Move every chance you have!   I suggest to find activities you love to do,  walk during your lunch break, and take the stairs.  I recommend moving at least 30 minutes every single day!

Losing 10 pounds sounds like a daunting task to many people

But the reality is that many of us need to lose that extra weight for our health and our appearance.

My ‘Just 10 Pounds’ Program makes weight loss simple.

Losing weight can be easier than many of us believe.  It’s all about wanting it, self control, choosing the right foods, and exercise.

  • Food:

I recommend to all my clients to drink 2 Cinch shakes every day.  These shakes contain leucine which will keep you full and provide you with all the necessary vitamins and nutrient your body needs.

In addition to these shakes I recommend eating 1 real food meal and 1 snack.  This diet allows people to start adjusting their eating habits in a manageable way.

Not to mention the shakes are delicious and you can add fun things like Kale, Spinach, Blueberries, Strawberries, Mint, Cilantro to spice them up (they don’t need it but can be fun!)

  • Exercise

Exercise is another key component to weight loss.  I recommend finding an activity you like and get moving for at least 30 minutes a day!  Even if this is just dancing in your living room to fun music

Here’s some inspiration to help you along:

Jacqui McCoy from ABC’s Extreme Makeover show: Weight Loss Edition lost 207 pounds in one year! 58% of her body weight.

You go girl!

So what holding us back?

Here are some tips for sicking with it:

1.         What is your motivation?

You health?  Wedding?  College reunion?  You have to want it!

2.       Make a plan

Be very specific about your food.

-Make a shopping list of healthy foods and have them readily available.

– Pick something each week to work on (No Soda, Cut down on Sugar, etc)

Be specific when you are going to exercise. Plan your days!

3.       Set yourself up for success
